IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING A GRADED AND "SLABBED" COIN,
THERE ARE SEVERAL THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO KEEP IN MIND":
1. YOU MUST HAVE A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE GRADING SCALE
USED. THE FIRST FILTER IS "DOES IT LOOK LIKE A MS**? NO MATTER
WHAT COMPANY'S NAME IS ON THE SLAB, IF IT DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT
DO NOT BUY IT!
2. KNOW THE NAME OF THE GOOD COMPANIES! PCGS AND NGC ARE
THE TWO THAT SEEM TO DOMINATE THE MARKET. IGC SEEMS TO
BE AN UP AND COMING COMPANY. BUT FOR ANY OTHERS THAN THESE
THREE I GO TO GOOGLE AND DO RESEARCH.
3. FOR EXAMPLE, I FOUND 2 SLABBED COINS BY "NATIONAL NUMISMATIC
CERTIFICATION." ONE WAS A 1 RUPEE SILVER COIN FROM INDIA.
THE SLAB BORE THE MARKINGS 1913-B AND MS64..
HOWEVER, THE COIN WAS A 1912!! I OF COURSE HAVE NO INFORMATION
AS TO WHEN THE 1912 RUPEE WAS PUT IN THE SLAB--BUT LOOKED FOR
OBVIOUS DAMAGE WHERE THE SLAB MIGHT HAVE BEEN OPENED TO NO
AVAIL. THE FUNNY THING WAS THAT THE COIN SEEMED TO BE IN THE
MS RANGE.
4. WHEN I GOOGLED THE NAME THE REPORTS WERE MOSTLY BAD..
ONE OF THE REMARKS SAID "SCAM ARTIST" I HAVE NO INFORMATION
EITHER WAY ABOUT THIS.
I JUST WANT TO REMIND YOU TO DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
